Chris Kennedy

With the feeling that playing country music all day is the greatest job ever created, Chris Kennedy, is a lifelong Midwesterner, now makes his home in the Springfield area.  “Our kitchen in the mornings while eating breakfast before school each day were filled with Conway and Lorretta, Kenny and Dolly, Waylon, Willie, and Merle on the radio on the top of the refrigerator.”  Like so many other kids that had the dream of one day being on the radio, Chris walked around the house holding a hairbrush like a microphone as if he were interviewing some of his favorite country music stars.

While in college for broadcasting, Chris managed to get a part-time job working the overnight hours at the radio station that he had listened to in the mornings while getting ready for school when he was a kid.  “Something I learned really early was, being on the radio was great because you got to meet all the artists, but more importantly, you get to meet listeners that have the same awesome passion about the music as you do.”  Not only does Chris Kennedy share the same love of the music as listeners, but he shares the same love of helping others in the community.

A father of three (2 girls, 1 boy), Chris loves to be outside hiking, riding a bike, taking a casual stroll along a walking trail, and taking his camera out to grab some cool photos of whatever catches his eye.  When he isn’t outside, Chris loves to be in the kitchen whipping something tasty up (and setting off the smoke detector).  There is a good chance that you will see him out eating at one of the gazillion places to eat in the Springfield area, because he thinks the best way to learn about a city, is eat his way through it by sampling everything!  Oh, and if you want to talk baseball, he will listen to your thoughts and stories and will be happy to share his with you.

Chris has never met a microphone he didn’t like and loves to emcee fundraising events, he has hosted events and radiothons for Children’s Hospitals, and for childhood cancer research, helped raise money for our Vets, ran marathons, and was even part of an annual 465 mile run for families dealing with childhood cancer.
